The censtat.exe process is an executable application component of the SmartShield software, and this process is integrated into the Windows-based system upon the installation and configuration of the SmartShield program. The censtat.exe process works with other EXE program files, certain modular Dynamic Link Library (DLL) files, some SYS driver utilities, specific background and system processes and various components that are used and referenced by the SmartShield software, which is a network system security and management program that was developed by Centurion Technologies. The SmartShield application enables system administrators and network specialists to write-protect Windows-based client computers that are connected to the network. This mean changes and new configurations or settings made by users of these client systems are written in a predesignated temporary location, in order for the client computer to revert back to its original settings and configurations upon system reboot and startup. This means the changes implemented by users to these client systems are wiped from the system upon reboot or startup by the SmartShield software. These functionalities of the SmartShield program can enable network administrators to configure client systems and protect it against possible system stability issues, user privacy risks and data security threats that may be caused by such system changes.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. censtat.exe. is used by Centurion Technologies SmartShield, If you shut down censtat.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop censtat.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Centurion Technologies SmartShield, from your system.
