Otherwise known as TOSHIBA HotKey Utility, the ceekey.exe process is an executable file that is associated with or belong to the Satellite E-Key program, which is an application created by Toshiba for Toshiba computer laptops and notebooks. This file is responsible in enabling the use and control of some special function (FN) keys, which include the sleep key (F3), hibernate key (F4), brightness key (F6 or F7), as well as the speaker on/off key, and management key. If the TOSHIBA HotKey Utility is not working, those special function keys do not work. A user can only access to make a shortcut by pressing those keys if the file that enables its tasks is present. Thus, the ceekey.exe file must be stored on the computer system and kept running in the background. This file is also the same process used in EKey Application, a program made by Compal Electronic, Inc. Whether this file belongs to TOSHIBA HotKey Utility or EKey Application, ceekey.exe must remain active on the system.
