The cdswinsrv.exe process is an executable program file that is used by some of the applications bundled with the firmware components and driver utilities of certain IBM laptops, desktop computers and devices. This means the cdswinsrv.exe process is integrated into the system by these IBM firmware resources and device driver software distributions. This also means the cdswinsrv.exe assists the firmware components and drivers of certain hardware devices that are connected to these IBM laptops and desktop computers in establishing data communications and facilitating data transmissions between them and the Windows system, along with a variety of built-in and third party applications that require the functionalities embedded in those hardware components. The cdswinsrv.exe process is also included in the installer distribution packages of these IBM firmware utilities and device drivers as one of the EXE component files and resource libraries that are used and referenced by the software utilities of these hardware devices and the Windows-based system.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. cdswinsrv.exe. is used by IBM Firmware/Driver Software, If you shut down cdswinsrv.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop cdswinsrv.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is IBM Firmware/Driver Software, from your system.
