The cdrom_monex.exe process is an executable program file that has been reported by some users as a malicious application disguised as the legitimate cdrom_mon.exe process from Smart Bro, Inc. The legitimate version of this process, which is the cdrom_mon.exe file, is distributed alongside Smart Bro client applications to local subscribers and customers of Smart Bro Inc.'s data subscription plans in the Philippines, and it is implemented into Windows-based systems to monitor the status of connected ZTE USB modem devices, which are bundled with these Smart Bro subscription plans and customer packages. A few users claim that the cdrom_monex.exe process, which is the illegitimate version of the cdrom_mon.exe file, is capable of exploiting unprotected TCP/IP network ports upon its successful placement, activation and automatic initialization during system startup. The same users state that the cdrom_monex.exe process creates and injects keys and entries into the Windows System Registry, in order for the system to allow the cdrom_monex.exe process to automatically run during system startup and operate as a background process while initiating contact with predesignated Web servers that are managed by the authors of the cdrom_monex.exe process, and also while downloading more malicious programs unto the infected Windows-based computer.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. cdrom_monex.exe. is used by Fake Smart Bro Client/Trojan, If you shut down cdrom_monex.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop cdrom_monex.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Fake Smart Bro Client/Trojan, from your system.
