Microsoft SMS Host and System Center Configuration Manager are two applications that are most commonly linked to the executable file ccmexec.exe. The file is mainly responsible for allowing network administrators to send file patches to end users. The file monitors computer systems connected to a specific network, to determine if any software or application is in need of an update or upgrade. From here, network administrators can send the updates remotely through the ccmexec.exe file. The file may be disabled if the computer is not connected to any network. If it is used for network administration, the file may also be disabled, but should be run from time to time to ensure that all software within the network of users is updated and current. This will help in system performance of all the network computers. File size in kilobytes is approximately 746.84 KB. The file is launched through services.exe, its parent process from Microsoft.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. ccmexec.exe. is used by System Center Configuration Manager, If you shut down ccmexec.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop ccmexec.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is System Center Configuration Manager, from your system.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as System Center Configuration Manager, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application.
