What is  alkernel.sys

The process called alkernel.sys, which is a type of a driver (SYS) file, is named as Altiris Kernel Driver as its service name, and is a component of the software product known as Altiris Kernel Driver. When the program Altiris Kernel Driver is installed onto the computer, the alkernel.sys file is also downloaded by storing itself on a file folder location, usually found in C:\Program Files, sometimes also in C:\Documents and Settings or C:\Windows, and registering itself into the Windows registry with a run identifier and an execution command, then automatically starts to run in the background. This kind of module is downloadable in most or all versions of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, or Windows OS, including Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000, Windows NT, and Windows ME. Regardless of the Windows OS, alkernel.sys must not be stopped or terminated, unless it is causing problems that affect the system performance.
