This process is associated with AdShield software. It is installed as a Browser Helper Object (BHO) on internet explorer. It does not work with other web browsers. The software also blocks popups, advertisements, and other intrusive elements. It significantly improves the performance of the browser and gives an uninterrupted browsing experience. One vital feature that this software offers is that it allows users to share the block list identified. It also allows or blocks unwanted download of images and advertisements, thereby making website loading even faster. This software allows users to configure the strings for advertisement blocking and it makes it easier to identify the string patterns which led to blocking of particular advertisement. Once an advertisement has been identified, it allows the user to remove or restore images and frames identified as part of the advertisement. This software is easy to install and use and comes with free upgrades and revisions to the block list.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. adshield.dll. is used by AdShield Dynamic Link Library, If you shut down adshield.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop adshield.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is AdShield Dynamic Link Library, from your system.
