Tektronix Wavestar is one of Tektronix products. Software designed to analyze, control, capture and document data, it has the ability to capture data and measurement waveforms, make, modify and transfer telecommunication masks. WaveStar is Microsoft Windows software that can bring measurement information to Windows desktop. It can also access, establish, manipulate and move instrument files. Wavestar data logs measurements coming from single or multiple equipment’s, it can also perform examinations on power waveforms. It has the ability to control measurements and instrument settings remotely and goes well with Tektronix Open Windows Oscilloscopes. A waveStar reader tool is also included intended for information sharing. To capture data it works by setting up communication to equipment using WaveStar Instrument Manager, and then Explorer will display the instrument and give their properties. To capture measurements select property, click then drag and drop to the application sheet where analysis will commence.

In 1980, dBase was published by Ashton-Tate for CP/M, the original developer of the software. It was the first database management system (DBMS) for microcomputer which included the query system which is database engine and the programming language which is forms engine.
