What is  siteadv.exe

The siteadv.exe file is a component of McAfee SiteAdvisor. McAfee SiteAdvisor is a software that is available to users for free. It is a Web security plug-in where the user finds Website safety ratings labelled as red, yellow and green. It provides secure trustmarks for sites which pass regular thorough tests. It also consists of a Secure Search Box which a user may need in surfing the Web, finding and purchasing online. It even checks websites for spyware, spam, phishing and browsing activities. McAfee SiteAdvisor has an automatic update which offers the user with protection from malicious files. The siteadv.exe file allows SiteAdvisor to operate through several search engines like Google, Yahoo!, Bing, AOL and Ask. The existing browser will change its look upon installing the SiteAdvisor software. There are icons for site ratings, a browser button and optional search box in addition to the icons for search results. All of these will prompt the user of potential risks to his or her computer.
