The process that is installed with the file rrservice.exe is Lenovo’s Rescue and Recovery Service for their Thinkpad machine. The file is also associated with IBM ThinkVantage, and serves as its Rescue and Recovery Service as well. This is a legitimate file installed directly into the machines by the manufacturer. It may also be installed separately by the user. The file provides an application that will enable the user to recover data lost due to accidental deletion or system crash. This is an essential application installed on computers that ensures the system can recover from software malfunctions and hardware failure. The file can be located at its default path at C:\Program Files. The file runs as a Windows service but can be disabled or enabled at any time without causing any issues with system processes. The file uses around 6 MB RAM space only so it is not considered as a high priority background process.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. rrservice.exe. is used by Rescue and Recovery Service, If you shut down rrservice.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
