The executable rpcapd.exe file loads a process on the system known as Remote Packet Capture Daemon. This is a process that runs as a Windows service in the background, and is part of the software for WinPCap; which is a program for capturing and sending network packets, and for providing users with low-level network entry. This is a valid file published by CACE Technologies. It has a general file size of 84 KB. The process’ executable file extension is generally stored in the following folder and format: C:\Program Files\WinPCap\rpcapd.exe. Service name for the file is “rpcapd.” Its most common size, in bytes, is 86,016. You may also find this file in sizes between 77,824 bytes and 93,048 bytes. Most users, who have the software and the file running on the computer, choose to leave both file and software installed and enabled, in order to fully benefit from their applications.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. rpcapd.exe. is used by Remote Packet Capture Daemon, If you shut down rpcapd.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop rpcapd.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Remote Packet Capture Daemon, from your system.
