The residence.exe file is installed together with the software Picture Package which comes from Sony Corporation. The EXE file is necessary in order to use the Sony camcorder specifically HC Series. The residence.exe file enables Picture Package to communicate with the camcorder. The camcorder is a digital video camera by which a user can produce a video compact disc. Upon initialization, residence.exe provides an interface where the user can adjust the settings of his or her camcorder. When running, the user can see the EXE file in the Task Manager and it has an icon displayed in the Taskbar upon startup of the computer. Exiting the Sony Picture Package software will disable the residence.exe file. If the user wants to continue the functionalities of the software to run in the system, he or she should not disable the residence.exe file. The process file takes up a portion of the memory storage so if the software is not in use, the user can temporarily stop it.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. residence.exe. is used by Sony Picture Package , If you shut down residence.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
