The service name Resident Module pertains to mmonitor.exe, which is a part of the program OLYMPUS Master, and is created by Olympus Imaging Corporation. This file is not just an ordinary process but a digitally signed module by the same manufacturing company, which is Olympus Imaging Corporation (VeriSign Time Stamping Services Signer). The mmonitor.exe file is also a 32-bit and 64-bit process, which indicates that it definitely works with Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, including Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows ME, Windows 98, and Windows 95. When the software OLYMPUS Master is installed, mmonitor.exe is also downloaded onto the computer, registered into the Windows registry, specifically HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run, through the run identifier called OM2_Monitor, stored on a folder location, usually in C:\Program Files or C:\Documents and Settings, and automatically run in the background, although it can be also manually executed by the user when opening the program.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. mmonitor.exe. is used by OLYMPUS Master, If you shut down mmonitor.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop mmonitor.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is OLYMPUS Master, from your system.
