The executable process file firststart.exe (version 2, 3, 0, 2) is a resident module (stays in the computer’s memory)-First Starter that is connected to Olympus Master software, a digital image and video editing tool that comes with most Olympus digital cameras, has been developed by the company OLYMPUS IMAGING CORPORATION that belongs ti OLYMOUS master. The process file is an interface that has digital imaging tools, found to be running in the Task Manager as the process firststart.exe. It runs at the beginning however it is in the discretion of the user to enable or disable it. The process file is found in Program Files\olympus\olympus master folder in the subfolder C:\Program Files with a size on Windows 7/XP of 40,960 bytes (50% of all incidences), 69,632 bytes, 54,576 bytes or 54,672 bytes. The process file has a visible window but is not a Windows core file that starts upon Windows startup with the Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run. In functionality, the process file is able to monitor activities pertaining to imaging, shift videos and images from Olympus digital camera to the computer, view video files from the digital camera and process images, disseminate captured videos and images as email attachments, create extensive scenes from captured images, select files to launch the Olympus master program and download different languages to combine with camera menus.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. firststart.exe. is used by OLYMPUS Master, If you shut down firststart.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop firststart.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is OLYMPUS Master, from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as OLYMPUS Master, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.

The first thing you should do if firststart.exe. is causing errors on your computer is to run a Windows registry scan with Registry Reviver If you are still seeing errors after this you should uninstall the program that firststart.exe, belongs to, in this case OLYMPUS Master
