The mcrmgr.exe process is an executable file bundled with the other program files and modules of the Media Center Extender Manager module, which is an application that is implemented into Microsoft Windows for facilitating extended functionalities that are added to the Windows Media Center program. The mcrmgr.exe process serves as the executable dispatcher process of the Media Center Extender Manager module, and when the mcrmgr.exe process is activated by the Microsoft Windows system, the mcrmgr.exe process loads other program files and references required system modules in order to implement the functionalities of the Media Center Extender Manager module into the system. The Media Center Extender Manager module is used by Microsoft Windows to organize and manage plugins that have been added and activated by the user to the Windows Media Center program.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. mcrmgr.exe. is used by Microsoft Windows and Windows Media Center and Media Center Extender Manager Module, If you shut down mcrmgr.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop mcrmgr.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Microsoft Windows and Windows Media Center and Media Center Extender Manager Module, from your system.
