The file irw.exe, or IR Receiver Application, is an important component of Boot Camp software, and is digitally signed by Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher - Microsoft Timestamping Service, that is why it works with most certain later versions of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, including Windows 7, Windows XP, and Windows Vista. As a file with digital signature, it is recommended to keep it stored and running in the background.
