HPHmon05 is the service name of the Windows process called hphmon05.exe, which is a component of the HP Photosmart program, a type of digital photo software, and is created by Hewlett-Packard or HP. HP Photosmart is basically associated with some HP Photosmart printing devices, and the hphmon05.exe file has the function to provide a driver that enables the printer to access memory cards of digital photos that are inserted into a card reader, for the purpose of printing. To print those digital images, this component needs to continue to run in the background. This file also has the capability to detect flash cards inserted into the HP printing device. Once it is installed, the hphmon05.exe file automatically runs in the background, especially during Windows startup, and even manual launching of the program that houses it. With that said, the hphmon05.exe file must not be terminated or removed, unless it causes problems or errors within the software, or even the performance of the computer system.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. hphmon05.exe. is used by HP Photosmart , If you shut down hphmon05.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop hphmon05.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is HP Photosmart , from your system.
