The file elinkacc.exe, also known as EarthLink Accelerator, belongs to software EarthLink Software by EarthLink. EarthLink is a provider of network, communications, and IT Services with headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The profuct EarthLink Accelerator is a free feature that is offered to EarthLink Dial-up members, which increases the speed at which Web pages and emails are downloaded. This feature is activated by installing the EarthLink Access Software or by downloading the Accelerator directly from the EarthLink site. It is easily installed after download, and works automatically by accelerating the Web browser for faster downloads, which could be as high as seven times faster than the standard speed. EarthLink Accelerator is compatible with EarthLink's dial-up service and specified Windows and Mac browsers. It will not enhance speed for Web Mail users who have changed the Web Mail preference to a secure location. This service is free for EarthLink Internet Access subscribers.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. elinkacc.exe. is used by EarthLink Accelerator, If you shut down elinkacc.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop elinkacc.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is EarthLink Accelerator, from your system.
