This software is an emulator that allows the user to double-click an image file and mount it to a virtual drive. The virtual drive (also called a virtual disk) is a file that represents as a physical drive to a guest operating system. It appears to be an ordinary physical disc drive that is used to trick the computer into thinking that it has an extra DVD drive plugged in. Virtual CloneDrive adds a Windows Explorer context menu for mounting and un-mounting images. It comes with a Virtual Sheep option that marks all virtual drives created by the software with its icon, so that these drives can be differentiated from the physical drives.
