Executable file dbserver.exe appears to be commonly associated with two types of processes; one has something to do with security software, and the other with gaming device software. The process that installs with dbserver.exe, and generally known as DbServer is part of the software for Trend Micro OfficeScan. The software provides endpoint protection to keep data secured, preventing loss or theft. This file can be found in C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Security Server\PCCSRV\Web\Service\dbserver.exe. Average file size on Windows XP and 7 is 712,790 bytes. The second process for the file dbserver.exe is known as Gravis Appawareloader. This is part of the drivers for various Gravis gaming devices, i.e. controller or joystick. The file enables the system to detect these gaming devices so that you can use them whenever they are attached to your machine. For this process, the file is saved in the following manner: C:\Windows\System\dbserver.exe. File size is approximately 10 MB. Both types of processes run as a background task.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. dbserver.exe. is used by DbServer/Gravis Appawareloader, If you shut down dbserver.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop dbserver.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is DbServer/Gravis Appawareloader, from your system.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as DbServer/Gravis Appawareloader, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
