DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION

Problems with BSODs started occurring with no discernible reason (No new hardware or software). Mostly I got CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATION caused by ntoskrnl, exe
Unable to identify the root cause so I ran driver verifier and on reboot got the DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION caused by AxtuDrv.sys and ntoskrnl.exe
Axtu is an app that comes with my ASRock 880GMHU/U3S3 motherboard.
As things stand I cant get driver verifier to tell me what other drivers may be faulty because it's crashing my system itself....
One more relevant thing, maybe, when BSODs first started occurring I reinstalled a system image from a couple of months back which initially seemed to work but then the BSODs recurred.

Any ideas before I reinstall Win 7 from my installation disc?

Hi Alan,

Try following the methods provided below and check if it helps:

Method 1:
Step 1:
I would suggest you to run the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool from Windows Recovery.
Step 2:
  • Also run the check disk in Windows Recovery mode.
  • In Windows Recovery mode click on Command Prompt In the command prompt, type the following command and hit Enter:
  • chkdsk /r
Method 2:
I would suggest you to update the latest Graphic card and Motherboard chipset drivers for the computer from the manufacturer’s website.
Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly.

Thanks!
Lokesh

Hi Alan,

I'm guessing the system image restore is most likely the culprit here.

I would recommend carrying out a repair installation of Windows 7 using your Windows 7 install disc and then reinstalling all your drivers. This way, you don't have to lose your data or do a clean install.

How to perform a repair install:

Turn on your computer, insert the Windows 7 installation disc or USB flash drive, and then turn off your computer.
  1. Restart your computer.
  2. Press any key when prompted to do so, and then follow any instructions that appear.
  3. When the Install Windows page appears, click Repair your computer
  4. Follow the instructions.
As for the drivers, you can reinstall them by downloading the latest, stable versions from the respective manufacturer websites. (for eg: ASRock)

Let us know how you go.

Good luck,

James
