Hi Ruth,
You can turn off the alerts that Windows Security Center sends when there is an action you can take to enhance the security of your computer.- Open Security Center by clicking the Start button
, clicking Control Panel, clicking Security, and then clicking Security Center. 
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. - In the left pane, click Change the way Security Center alerts me.
- Click the alert option you want. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
