How can I download MFC70.dll for Quicken 2004?

The problem arose when I upgraded to Windows 7 from XP. I got Riversoft because it advertised a solution to this problem, but I can't get it to work, and it still shows a lack of MFC70.dll even after re-installation of Quicken!

Hi Michael,

I\'m sorry to hear you\'re having trouble using Quicken.

It turns out Quicken 2004 is not fully compatible with Windows 7. Only Quicken 2009 and newer releases are compatible with Win 7 and newer operating systems.

Fortunately, there are some workarounds that work well:

Solution 1:
1. Right-click the Quicken Setup file, select Properties, click the Compatibility tab, select \'Windows XP (Service Pack 3)\' and click on OK. You should be able to install it now.
2. Now locate and copy these files: mfc70.dll, msvcp70.dll and msvcr70.dll from \'C:WindowsSystem32\' on a \'Windows XP Service Pack 3\' PC/Disc/USB Drive to \'C:Program FilesQuicken\'.
3. Locate the qw.exe file in the Quicken folder, right-click the file, select Compatibility and choose \'Windows XP (Service Pack 3)\'. This should help you launch Quicken 2004.

Solution 2:
If you were able to successfully install Quicken from the Quicken CD, Go to: \'C:Program FilesQuicken\'. Expand the quicken file and scroll down until you find the file \" qw\" near the bottom of the list. Double click this file and you should be up and running. Follow the restore procedure and you\'re all set to start using the software.

Good luck!

James

Hi Michael,

Quicken 2004 is not compatible with windows 7 but the latest quicken 2010 is.

You can consider switch to the latest version. However, if you would stay quicken 2004, try the following as some people resolved the issue by the following steps:

1. Uninsatll quicken 2004
2. Reinstall it in compatibility mode

Set the compatibility options on the installation program "start.exe" to "windows xp sp3" and "run as administrator". After install, do the same for the "qw.exe".

If the above doesn't work, follow these steps as well:

1. Run setup (D:\start.exe) in compatibility mode for 'Windows XP (Service Pack 3)'.
2. Copy mfc70.dll, msvcp70.dll and msvcr70.dll from 'C:\Windows\System32\' on a 'Windows XP Service Pack 3' PC to 'C:\Program Files\Quicken\'.
3. Run qw.exe in compatibility mode for 'Windows XP (Service Pack 3).

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Lokesh
