Hi Arun,

Your laptop fan is so loud as it is running at its maximum speed to quickly expel hot air outside and maintain optimum temperatures inside the laptop. In simple words, the fan is doing its job to prevent your hardware components from overheating.

If you feel laptop's fan is not able to cool down your laptop, you can try the below fixes to solve the heating issue.

Fix 1. Buy A Laptop Cooler
Due to their nature, size and increasing amounts of power; laptops seem to just get hotter and hotter. As a rule, old laptops would generally go for a year without getting too hot. Now they’re so small and powerful that a laptop cooler is pretty much a necessity from day one.

Fix 2. Kill Your Processes
The heat generated by the CPU is generally the main heat source within a laptop, and non-vital background processes only serve to make this worse.

You can manually configure what starts up in Windows using the Microsoft System Configuration Utility.

Go to Run and type in msconfig and click OK.

Navigate to the Startup tab and simply toggle the items you’d like to run when your computer first boots. Many update managers and system tray processes (like Quicktime, Java Update Scheduler, etc) are completely useless and simply sit there wasting your precious resources.

Fix 3. Configure your OS Settings
Although animations and shadows make the user interface (UI) look great, they use quite a bit of CPU and memory resources. To turn off these features, open System Properties. In the System Properties dialog box, on the Advanced tab, click the Settings button in the Performance section. On the Visual Effects tab, you can uncheck all the options highlighted in green.

Fix 4: Use software to find out reason for heating
CPUID brings you system & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting quality softwares for your Windows & Android devices.

If you’re having cooling problems, freeware utility SpeedFan allows you to monitor and control your fans. You can turn them right down if you need to, just don’t forget to turn them back up again afterwards.

Fix 5. Ensure Proper Ventilation
Put the laptop in a location where it can properly ventilate itself. Don’t push the case up against a wall so that its vents become blocked or leave it near a radiator or heating vent. Be careful to not block its air vents, particularly when doing something demanding.

I hope this helps in making your laptop's fan become less loud.

Regards,
Lokesh

Hello Arun ,

Thank you for posting your concerns here.

If you would like to silence a noisy computer fan, please consider following the instructions below.

You could try saving power plan to silent your computer fan, here's how.

1. Click Start , and type "choose apower plan" in the Search box. In the search results, click Choose a power plan.

2. Click Power Saver and close the window.

3. Restart your computer.

Note: If you are using your computer in a cold temperature area, you can adjust the power to it's lowest. However, if you are using your computer in a high temperature area, you may leave the power as it is as it could help your computer cool a bit.

I hope this helps you with your computer fan problem.

If you have any other questions or require additional assistance, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Christian

I kept getting the blue screen with Driver Power State Failure error message and then my computer would restart. I found your product and it did not happen any more. I just purchased an anti-virus (kaspersky) and now it is doing it again. It is so frustrating. My computer is only 6 months old. It is a Asus desktop.
