The problem seems to occur at random, sometimes just listening to music, sometimes doing nothing,ie,it's switched on but not doing anything. Please see screenshot. Also, please note, the first figure (i.e.,101913-29780-01.dmp) is always a different one.

Hi Chris,

Can you please take a picture with a camera of the actual Blue Screen that you are getting. If we I know the error code it helps to diagnose the problem.

....further to my last comment, the reason I\'ve not done a system restore is because I can\'t remember the first time it BSOD\'d on me,but it\'s been a while, but getting more frequent.Thanks.

Hi Chris, Have you tried updating your drivers? The messages you are seeing are usually caused by a hardware conflict with your Operating System. Have you changed any parts of your PC such as a graphics card? I would recommend trying to update your graphics card driver. You can do this either by using Driver Reviver or you can look up the manufacturers website and find the drivers there. If you give me the model graphics card you have the the version of Windows you are using then I can help you with this. Mark

Hi,Mark,well,I\'ve tried to find out which graphics card I\'m running, but can\'t seem to find it-In the Device Manager\' ,I can\'t work out how to find it (Duh!). On the Acer driver update site, the latest VGA driver is for 2010,which is older than the computer! The version I\'m running is-windows 7 home premium, service pack 1/2 GB memory/320 GB hard drive. Thanks for your help!

What model computer do you have? I might be able to look up the graphics card driver using the computer model number.

Hi Chris, Can you please try using this tool provided by Intel? I think that they offer newer drivers that Acer does not offer on their website. http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect/graphics Let me know if it finds a new driver for you. It looks like the latest one released was in 2012 which was after the release of Windows 8 which is a good sign :)

I tried the above site and had no luck.I installed the latest Java plug-in,but the update facility failed, the info given was-\'possible web browser compatability, firewall,or installation issue detected\'-I tried using the manual search, but had no luck there either. If it makes any difference,I\'m using Google chrome as my browser.Cheers,Mark. Chris.

A bit of further info..I tried manually to find driver updates on the Intel site and came across this-\'Intel graphics media accelerator driver for Win 7 32 bit\' the driver version is 15.22.587.2993 (8.15.10.2993),a recently released update. The driver I\'ve got now is dated 10/07/2009 and is version 6.10.1.2077.Could this be what I\'m looking for? I don\'t know if a graphics accelerator is just like a regular driver or something else.On my laptops Device Manager,it says \'driver up to date. Also,if it\'s wrong and the computer fails,I don\'t know how to de-install it.

Hi Chris,

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) error can happen after the installation of an incompatible driver or program , corrupted file system, after the installation of the Platform Update KB2670838 because of a compatibility issue with your currently installed graphic card drivers, etc.

To resolve the PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA BSOD error, follow the solutions below:

1. Make sure that your computer is clean from viruses, malware, etc.
2. Try to disable your antivirus software and restart your computer.
3. Remove any recently added hardware on your computer and restart your computer to find out if the error recurs.
4. Perform a clean Windows boot to find out if a service or a startup program causes the STOP: 0x00000050 error.
Steps for clean boot are:
  1. Log on to the computer by using an account that has administrator rights.
  2. Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press Enter to start the System Configuration utility.
Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, you should type the password or provide confirmation.
  3. On the General tab, click the Selective startup option, and then click to clear the Load startup items check box. (The Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.)A screenshot for this step.
  4. On the Services tab, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all.A screenshot for this step.
  5. Click OK, and then click Restart.
After the computer is restarted, you will have a clean boot environment.

5. Check your hard drive for system errors using Chkdsk command.
Steps for doing this are:
Use the check disk commands as follows:
1. Click Start.
2. In search window type 'cmd' and ENTER. Right click and select 'Run as administrator'.
3. Type at the command prompt CHKDSK /P and press ENTER to scan the disk.
4. Then type CHKDSK C: /F /R and press ENTER to repair corrupt sectors, if there are any.

NOTE: The root drive has to be C: and the command may schedule a task at the system startup, if it does, then press Y to schedule a task and restart the computer to perform chkdsk.
Once chkdsk completes, boot to the desktop and then check.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Lokesh

Hi Chris, Do you recall making ANY changes/additions to your computer before this started happening? The first thing I\'d recommend is restarting your computer in the Windows Safe Mode (reboot and start tapping the F8 key) and using the Windows System Restore service to restore your computer to an earlier point in time. This should roll back any changes that were made and get your computer back to normal. Of course, including the specific details of the Blue Screen error ( i.e error code ) will help us offer specific solutions. James
