The wowpost.exe file is an EXE application process included with other executable program files, some Dynamic Link Library (DLL) modules, certain SYS drivers, various background process items and other associated component files that are used and referenced by the firmware and driver software distribution packages of certain laptops and desktops with motherboards that are integrated with Adaptec ASPI chipsets and devices. This means the wowpost.exe process is included in the installer distributions of these associated firmware and driver software components for compatible motherboards with Adaptec ASPI chipsets and I/O devices, which also means the wowpost.exe file is placed in the system upon the installation and configuration of these firmware components and driver software resources. The wowpost.exe process is specifically deployed as a component of the ASPI for Win16 (Windows NT) Callback Helper module, which is an applet built into the ASPI Layer application of these firmware and driver software distributions for supported motherboards with integrated Adaptec I/O chipsets and devices.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. wowpost.exe. is used by Adaptec ASPI Layer and Adaptec for Win16 (Windows NT) Callback Helper Module, If you shut down wowpost.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop wowpost.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Adaptec ASPI Layer and Adaptec for Win16 (Windows NT) Callback Helper Module, from your system.
