What is  wowexec.exe

The wowexec.exe is also known as the Windows-On-Windows process and it works in conjunction with the NT Virtual DOS Machine process in order to allow running the 16-bit MSDOS programs or the ancient games on the current 32-bit Operating Systems like the Windows NT, 2000, XP and so on. It operates as soon as any 16-bit application is running, but it continues to stay and run within the computer system’s background even after the user closes the application. These two programs are used to run DOS programs (16-bit programs) within a virtual environment. The programs are indented whenever they are being used and can be found within the Task Manager and both programs remain within the memory even after the user closed the application, if ever the user desired to launch another DOS program. This program is considered to be safe by the users and does not pose any potential risks within the computer system.
