What is  winmgr.exe

The winmgr.exe process is an executable file that has been reported by many users as a possible malicious application associated with a variant of the RBOT family of worms. The same user reports stated that the winmgr.exe process is also known as Windows Update Machine, which is a popular name of this RBOT worm variant. A few users reported that the winmgr.exe process, upon its successful placement and activation in a Windows-based system, creates entries and keys that it then injects into the Windows System Registry, in order to automatically initialize during system startup. The same users claimed that the winmgr.exe process then operates in the background during system runtime, in order to create copies of itself and place these duplicated winmgr.exe files in the data storage devices of the infected Windows-based system. Some user reports stated that the winmgr.exe process, while running as a background process in the infected Windows system, performs Trojan and spyware-like functionalities, such as searching for vulnerable TCP/IP network ports and gathering private data and Internet browsing information without user consent from the infected system and its default Web browser.

How can I stop winmgr.exe and should I?

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. winmgr.exe. is used by Windows Update Machine RBOT Worm Variant, If you shut down winmgr.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
