The windvd.exe process is an EXE program file that is deployed by the InterVideo WinDVD software, now called Corel WinDVD, as its executable dispatcher file. This means users can activate and load the WinDVD software unto the system by executing the windvd.exe file. This also means the windvd.exe file is placed in the system upon the installation and configuration of the WinDVD program. The windvd.exe process is integrated into the installer distribution packages of the WinDVD software, which is classified as a multimedia disk authoring and playback tool that was developed for Windows-based systems. This means the WinDVD software is embedded with features that can allow users to view video content in various file formats and burn these video content files unto supported optical media like CDs, DVDs and Blue-Ray disks.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. windvd.exe. is used by InterVideo WinDVD (Corel WinDVD), If you shut down windvd.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop windvd.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is InterVideo WinDVD (Corel WinDVD), from your system.

After uninstalling applications it is a good idea to scan you Windows registry for any left over traces of applications. Registry Reviver by ReviverSoft is a great tool for doing this.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as InterVideo WinDVD (Corel WinDVD), or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.

The first thing you should do if windvd.exe. is causing errors on your computer is to run a Windows registry scan with Registry Reviver If you are still seeing errors after this you should uninstall the program that windvd.exe, belongs to, in this case InterVideo WinDVD (Corel WinDVD)
