Still Image (STI) Driver uses the process vm_sti.exe in producing the desired task. The process vm_sti.exe helps software developers to concentrate on features of the software than the controls used for the hardware. The STI Driver has been designed to backup image acquisition devices. STI is composed of applications that use still image, imaging APIs, still image run-time components and still image API. STI makes use of the color management systems even though they do not form part of the main components. The process of using STI architecture starts with the imaging application calling on the still image API directly. The imaging application does this by the way of an event monitor or of an imaging API. The process vm_sti.exe launches Still Image and then allows developers to use the features of Still Image to come up with a software. The STI driver will be removed once the user upgrades into Micorsoft Windows

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. vm_sti.exe. is used by Still Image Driver, If you shut down vm_sti.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop vm_sti.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Still Image Driver, from your system.
