The twain.exe process is an executable program file that has been reported by many users as a malicious application associated with the TROJ_AGENT.QKA software, which is a family of Trojans known to infect unprotected Windows-based systems. The same user reports state that the twain.exe process is capable of finding and exploiting unsecure and unencrypted TCP/IP network ports, in order to initiate contact with predesignated Web servers that the twain.exe process is said to use in order to download more malicious programs unto the system. The same users reported that the twain.exe process is capable of secretly performing these procedures right after it has successfully initialized automatically during system startup. Some users claim that the twain.exe process can automatically run during system startup because of certain keys and entries this malicious application can create and inject into the Windows System Registry upon its placement and activation in the Windows-based system. A few users state that the twain.exe process and some of the malware items it can download unto the system are also capable of gathering private user details and Internet surfing information from the infected system and its default Web browser, which are then covertly forwarded to remote servers that are operated and managed by the authors of the twain.exe process.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. twain.exe. is used by TROJ_AGENT.QKA, If you shut down twain.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop twain.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is TROJ_AGENT.QKA, from your system.
