The tphdexlg.exe file, referring to ThinkVantage Active Protection System - HDD Logger Module, is a component of the program ThinkVantage Active Protection System or APS, which is a security application and developed by Lenovo. ThinkVantage Active Protection System is a protection system that is specifically made for the internal hard drive of ThinkPad, with a sensor feature that identifies if the device is accelerated, so the applet of the program is triggered to park the hard disk drive, which eventually reduces the risk of losing data during an unexpected drop. Basically, this ThinkVantage Active Protection System software is designed to fully protect the hard disk drive in case of a drop of the notebook. As the Logger Module of the hard disk drive, tphdexlg.exe file is an important process that must be retained running in the background of the Windows system. It serves as the system account on the computer. Unless it causes serious threats and problems or errors, the tphdexlg.exe file process must not be removed.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. tphdexlg.exe. is used by ThinkVantage Active Protection System, If you shut down tphdexlg.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop tphdexlg.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is ThinkVantage Active Protection System, from your system.
