The tomtomhomeservice.exe file is an executable program component process included with other EXE application files, certain modular Dynamic Link Library (DLL) files, some SYS driver files, particular background process items and various associated component resources that are needed by the TomTom Home software. This is a Windows program classified as a GPS device system synchronization program that was developed for TomTom GPS devices as its content management application. This means the TomTom Home software is used to download and update GPS map data stored in the associated TomTom GPS device among other synchronization features that can be implemented into the TomTom GPS device when connected to the Windows-based system with the TomTom Home program. The tomtomhomeservice.exe file is placed in the system upon the completion of the downloading and installation process of the TomTom Home software, which can be done by connecting the TomTom GPS device to a Windows-based system via the USB port, then initiating its automatic TomTom Home download and installation procedure. This means the tomtomhomeservice.exe process is integrated into the installer distributions of the TomTom Home software. The tomtomhomeservice.exe process is specifically deployed as one of the components of the Windows Service for TomTom Home module, which is also built into these TomTom Home installer distributions and also placed in the system upon the installation of the TomTom Home software.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. tomtomhomeservice.exe. is used by TomTom Home and Windows Service for TomTom Home Module, If you shut down tomtomhomeservice.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start.
