The tomcat.exe process is an executable file known by the name JavaService, which is a part of the same name of the software developed by Alexandria Software Consulting. JavaService is a type of adaptor software that is used to permit the installation of a cross-platform Java server program, and function as a service in a Windows operating system during the startup. This program is also used to manage the interface between Windows OS service handler and Java run-time platform, that is with the use of code developed in C++, which invoke the Java JNI mechanism from any suitable application or server with the probability to install on the program as a Windows service. JavaService is compatible with many Microsoft Windows OS versions, including Windows NT4, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, and Windows XP. To enable the software JavaService, the tomcat.exe file must be running on the computer, particularly in the background of the system.
