The timezone.exe file is an executable process implemented with other EXE program files, modular DLLs, SYS driver files and associated components that are required by the Microsoft Time Zone software, which is an add-on program for Windows-based systems that was developed with a set of features for updating the time zone settings of the calendar and clock functions of the Windows system. The timezone.exe process is available for automatic download and installation as a Windows Update package, which means the timezone.exe process is placed in the system upon the installation of the Microsoft Time Zone add-on update. The timezone.exe process is specifically deployed as the executable dispatcher file of the Microsoft Time Zone software, and the timezone.exe process is also associated with the Microsoft Daylight Savings Time update module that is built into the Microsoft Time Zone program.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. timezone.exe. is used by Microsoft Time Zone and Microsoft Daylight Savings Time Update Module, If you shut down timezone.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop timezone.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Microsoft Time Zone and Microsoft Daylight Savings Time Update Module, from your system.

A process usually a part of an installed application such as Microsoft Time Zone and Microsoft Daylight Savings Time Update Module, or your operating system that is responsible for running in functions of that application. Some application require that they have processes running all the time so they can do things such as check for updates or notify you when you get an instant message. Some poorly written applications have many processes that run that may not be required and take up valuable processing power within your computer.
