The thpsrv.exe file is an executable file that refers to the TOSHIBA Hard Disk Drive (HDD) Protection Service, a part of the program TOSHIBA Hard Disk Drive (HDD) Protection, which is created by TOSHIBA Corporation for its own manufactured laptops. The HDD Protection software is a type of utility driver, which is installed on computers or laptops made by TOSHIBA. This is designed to protect and secure the hard disk drives against mechanical damage. It has an in-built acceleration sensor in the computer that detects vibrations and shocks, and then moves the head of the HDD to a safe position to prevent the risk of any mechanical damage, which may be caused by head to disk contact. That particular function is the task of the thpsrv.exe file process, or TOSHIBA Hard Disk Drive (HDD) Protection Service. Therefore, the thpsrv.exe file is the major component of the TOSHIBA HDD Protection software. This file has to remained present and active in the system, which is usually found in folder C:\Windows.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. thpsrv.exe. is used by TOSHIBA HDD Protection, If you shut down thpsrv.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop thpsrv.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is TOSHIBA HDD Protection, from your system.
