What is  sysfer.dll

Developed by Symantec Corporation, sysfer.dll is the process file for Symantec CMC Firewall usually located in C:\Windows\System32. CMC Firewall protects the computer against harmful elements such as viruses, Trojan horses, Worm, and other threats. Also called Teefer2, CMC Firewall is based on the technology that was developed by Sygate Technologies, which was later purchased by Symantec Corporation. Sygate Technologies was a security software company whose main products include enterprise server, end user firewalls, network security enforcement, automated network discovery for enterprises, and several security monitoring software. The Teefer2 driver captures all incoming and outgoing network traffic in a particular interface and these network packets pass through the firewall component working with the associated miniport driver. Then it runs under kernel mode, and it passes information to the teefer.dll under user mode operations. Its endpoint incorporates the rules-based firewall, an anti-malware technique which Symantec calls its generic exploit blocking. The technique proactively blocks malware to stop exploiting unpatched vulnerabilities.
