The file sp.exe is a process that belongs to ntsearch Adware BHO for the application Cool Web Search. This software hijacks the Internet Explorer and other Web browsers to the company's Website. Adware BHO (Browser helper object) is a specific type of browser helper that is used to display ads in the Internet. It is a DLL file that is loaded when the browser is opened. The Adware BHO is capable of generating popup windows, tracking navigation, and can act as a Trojan that hijacks the browser. Installation of the BHO is usually through the installation of a browser toolbar, or with some freeware of ad-supported software. It can also come from visiting an intentionally infected or compromised Website. Symptoms of Adware BHO include browser redirects and firewall alerts that a program requests connection to the Internet, and constant popup boxes that contain various types of advertisement in the browser.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. sp.exe. is used by Cool Web Search, If you shut down sp.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop sp.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Cool Web Search, from your system.
