The executable file sgmain.exe is the process known as Spyware Guard. It is an executable file that contains specific instructions to run the program SpywareGuard. The software Spyware Guard is a security program that offers users real-time protection solution against spyware. It scans files before opening them and prevents running the file if spyware is detected. It features a real-time scanning engine that identifies and blocks spyware before it is executed. It has signature-base scanning for known spywares and generic detection capabilities to catch mutated spywares. It also has a Download Protection and Browser Hijacking Protection to prevent spyware from being downloaded in the Internet Explorer and stop real-time browser hijacking, respectively. The Spyware Guard also has reporting capabilities to log detailed information of all spyware detected. However, the blocked spyware files before being opened to run are not simply shut down after being loaded in memory or after performing the tasks. Hence, the need for other security programs to eliminate it permanently.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. sgmain.exe. is used by Spyware Guard, If you shut down sgmain.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop sgmain.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Spyware Guard, from your system.
