What is  sam.jar

The process sam.jar, also known as Software Asset Management, is said to be the “license enforcement system” of a Business Rule Management System named JRules. JRules employs an environment of business rules management and distribution. The process file sam.jar is a jar file. A jar file is a Java Archive file format used to collect Java class files – files with extension *.class. a java class file contains a java byte code that can be run or executed with the use of a Java Virtual Machine or JVM. This process file also collects metadata which can either be structural or descriptive. A structural metadata is a “data container” of other data while a descriptive metadata is a “data content” of other data. The SAM process can be integrated in many of the business rule management concerns of JRules. As a jar file, it is a useful tool in making the software function well.

How can I stop sam.jar and should I?

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. sam.jar. is used by Software Asset Management, If you shut down sam.jar, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop sam.jar, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Software Asset Management, from your system.
