What is  rundll.exe

The rundll.exe process is associated with Windows ME, 95 and 98. This process allows the Internet, network and applications to gain access to the system registry point. It is a non-essential process for Windows and it is prone to catching viruses, however, it is still advisable to not terminate this process. The rundll.exe process gains access to the user’s Anti-Virus Software depending on the user’s updated database. This software has been associated only with Windows ME, 95 and 98 because these are the only operating system that is not overflowing with service packs and firewalls. The rundll32.exe is an updated process of the rundll.exe process. This process is likened to be a “GO” system of an application as it is not mainly used by programmers except for running the process in order to not devour the memory of the program loading in one implementation. The rundll.exe process usually runs when the process is not functioning well, infected by a malicious threat or freezing. It can be executed with the Safe Mode process.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. rundll.exe. is used by Safe Mode Process, If you shut down rundll.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop rundll.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Safe Mode Process, from your system.
