The rimdevicemanager.exe process is included in the installer distribution packages of the BlackBerry Desktop Software application, which also means the rimdevicemanager.exe process is installed in the system upon the installation of the BlackBerry Desktop Software application. The rimdevicemanager.exe process is also placed in the same application folder where the BlackBerry Desktop Software program was installed in the system, which is normally a sub directory under the Program Files directory of the system partition. The BlackBerry Desktop Software program and the rimdevicemanager.exe process are implemented with compatibility support for widely used versions of Microsoft Windows, and there is also a version of the BlackBerry Desktop Software application for Mac platforms. The rimdevicemanager.exe process is specifically deployed as the executable dispatcher file of the RIM Handheld Communications Manager module, which is built into the BlackBerry Desktop Software.
