The pwd_2k.sys process is a component system file deployed with other program files, modular resources and system drivers that are needed by the Roxio Easy Media Creator software, which is a program classified as a multimedia disk authoring tool designed by Roxio with a set of integrated features for creating data disks, audio disks and video disks using CD, DVD and Blue-Ray optical media disks. The pwd_2k.sys process is bundled with the installer distribution packages of the Roxio Easy Media Creator software, and this means the pwd_2k.sys file is installed in the system during the installation process of the Roxio Easy Media Creator program. The pwd_2k.sys file is specifically implemented as one of the main components of the Win2000 Framework for Packet Write Driver module, which means the Roxio Easy Media Creator software and the system may need to reference the pwd_2k.sys file whenever the Win2000 Framework for Packet Write Driver module is required to be loaded unto the system upon user request.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. pwd_2k.sys. is used by Roxio Easy Media Creator and Win2000 Framework for Packet Write Driver Module, If you shut down pwd_2k.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop pwd_2k.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Roxio Easy Media Creator and Win2000 Framework for Packet Write Driver Module, from your system.
