The pmemnt.sys is a file program of Physical Memory Driver, which is an application for Microsoft Windows NT operating system, or Microsoft R Windows NT TM operating system. There is also a version called SmartSuite of this file, which is already obsolete to later versions of Windows OS, but is used on Windows 2000 and Windows Server 2003, through IBM’s Update Connector. The physical memory of the computer is one of the essential resources, because its main function, through the memory manager, is to populate it with code and data of various processes that are actively running, as well as files from device drivers and the operating system software. This component of the operating system affects the performance of the computer, and the amount of it impacts resource limits, such as the number of processes. With that said, pmemnt.sys file is a very important process in the computer system, particularly located in folder C:\Windows\System32\drivers, if not, in folder C:\Windows\System32.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. pmemnt.sys. is used by Physical Memory Driver, If you shut down pmemnt.sys, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop pmemnt.sys, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Physical Memory Driver, from your system.
