The onlinebackup.exe file is an executable component process deployed by the Symantec SwapDrive client application, which is a program from Symantec that can be installed in Windows-based client computers. The Symantec SwapDrive client software is provided to subscribers of Symantec's online data backup and management services. The onlinebackup.exe process is implemented as one of the executable dispatcher files of certain modules built into the Symantec SwapDrive client software. This means the onlinebackup.exe process is executed by the system whenever the user requests for access to the Symantec SwapDrive client software or its associated functionalities, in which the Symantec SwapDrive client application may activate the onlinebackup.exe process whenever it needs to load associated modules into the system. Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. onlinebackup.exe. is used by Symantec SwapDrive Client, If you shut down onlinebackup.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop onlinebackup.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Symantec SwapDrive Client, from your system.
