What is ngen.exe
The process file ngen.exe is associated with Microsoft’s .NET Framework. The process is known as Native Image Generator, or in other instances, the process is known as Microsoft Common Language Runtime Native Compiler. The file basically aims to enhance the performance and functionality of managed applications. The file allows native images to be shared by application domains. Also, where an image has been invalidated, the file launches an application that can recreate these invalidated images. Users can locate the file in the Windows directory, usually in C drive. There are different sizes of the file, ranging from 73,728 bytes up to 100,856 bytes. There is little else available about the file other than those already mentioned here. The file nevertheless, has never been mentioned as being associated with a virus, or even malware. The file is considered risk-free. It is configured to execute with PC startup. This is not a core system file so enabling or disabling it is down to user’s own discretion.
