The nalshell.dll file is a component of ZENWorks Applications Shell Extensions, which is a process file for the product ZENWorks for Desktops from Novell Inc. The application is designed to provide software distribution and storage of application objects in the Novell Directory Services (NDS) directory tree. NDS, sometimes called Netware Directory Services, is used to centrally manage access to resources on multiple servers and computers within a given network. ZENWorks for Desktops provide network administrators with the flexibility to associate specific programs with NDS users or departmental groups, which is helpful for license metering in application distribution. This desktop management application effectively integrates Windows desktops systems into the NDS environment, and provides for the automation of key management tasks to reduce IT costs. Features of ZENWorks for Desktop include the Dynamic Local User that allows administrators to manage users on NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 workstations without implementing a Windows NT domain, and administration enhancement tools like Remote Control, Inventory, and Policy Deployment Wizard.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. nalshell.dll. is used by ZENWorks for Desktop, If you shut down nalshell.dll, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop nalshell.dll, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is ZENWorks for Desktop, from your system.
