The mscmtsrvc.exe process is an executable program file distributed alongside the firmware utilities and driver software components of certain Compaq laptops and desktop computers, and this EXE file is placed in the Windows-based system upon the installation of these Compaq firmware resources and device driver software distributions, along with other executable application components, certain SYS driver utilities, some DLL (Dynamic Link Library) modules and specific background process items among other resource files and libraries. The mscmtsrvc.exe process assists these Compaq utilities in implementing the Compaq notification system into the Windows-based computer, in order to alert or notify users about the availability of new Compaq products, software upgrades, driver and firmware updates. The mscmtsrvc.exe process is included as one of the component files and libraries packaged into the installer distributions of these Compaq drivers and firmware utilities.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. mscmtsrvc.exe. is used by Compaq Firmware/Driver Software, If you shut down mscmtsrvc.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop mscmtsrvc.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Compaq Firmware/Driver Software, from your system.
