The mptbox.exe process is an executable component file of the MultiPass Toolbar module, which is an applet built into the MultiPass Suite software. The mptbox.exe process assists the MultiPass Toolbar module in implementing the utility access functionalities of the MultiPass Suite program into the Windows System Tray and also into the Windows Taskbar (as a Quick Launch item). This means the mptbox.exe process and the MultiPass Toolbar module integrates icons and menu items in the Windows System Tray and the Windows Toolbar, and these icons and menu items can be accessed by the user to request for specific features to be implemented into the system by the MultiPass Suite software. The mptbox.exe process is packaged as one of the EXE processes included alongside other resource files and libraries in the installer distributions of the firmware utilities and driver software components that are bundled with Canon MultiPass Series devices, which include Canon printers and AIO (All-In-One) machines. This means the mptbox.exe file is placed in the system along with these other component files and modules upon the installation of these Canon MultiPass driver utilities and firmware resources.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. mptbox.exe. is used by Canon MultiPass Firmware/Driver Software and Canon MultiPass Suite and Canon MultiPass Taskbar Module, If you shut down mptbox.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop mptbox.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Canon MultiPass Firmware/Driver Software and Canon MultiPass Suite and Canon MultiPass Taskbar Module, from your system.
