The mgr.exe is associated with the application Virtual Drive MGR, which is a process file from FarStone Technology Inc. The Virtual Drive Manager is the utility in the Virtual Drive Personal software that creates virtual drives or maps of the contents of folders through an easy to use graphical user interface (GUI). Though its functionality is similar to the DOS command SUBST, it has the additional capability of restoring all virtual drives automatically when Windows is restarted. Virtual Drive Personal is CD/DVD emulation software from Windows. It creates an ISO image of discs and, then places the created image in the hard drive. Once the process is completed, the software mounts it as a virtual CD or DVD drive. The benefits from this application are the increased speed rate and access rate for the CDs, which is faster than having an optical disc in the cd tray. Users continually enjoy this benefit since the virtual drives are automatically restored when the system is restarted.

Most non-system processes that are running can be stopped because they are not involved in running your operating system. mgr.exe. is used by Virtual Drive Personal, If you shut down mgr.exe, it will likely start again at a later time either after you restart your computer or after an application start. To stop mgr.exe, permanently you need to uninstall the application that runs this process which in this case is Virtual Drive Personal, from your system.
